Just Water

At Mercure Canberra Belconnen, we’ve made the switch to JUST Water — a plant-based, paper-bottled water that replaces single-use plastic bottles across our property.

JUST Water bottles are made from 82% renewable materials, using paper sourced from sustainably managed forests. By choosing JUST Water, we are significantly reducing our reliance on plastic while continuing to offer guests a refreshing, quality drinking experience.

This is one of the many small but meaningful steps we are taking toward a cleaner, more sustainable future — for our guests, our community, and our planet.

Guest Amenities

We are proud to be eliminating single-use dry amenities from our guest rooms as part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste and our overall environmental footprint.

Items such as toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps are no longer automatically placed in rooms. Guests who require these items are welcome to request them at any time by contacting our front desk or using our in-room service options.

Solar Panels

At Mercure Canberra Belconnen, we’ve installed solar panels on-site to harness clean, renewable energy. This reduces our reliance on grid electricity, lowers our carbon footprint, and supports a healthier environment, another step toward a more sustainable stay for our guests.

Recycling & Community Giving

We’ve partnered with ReCollect to recycle the bottles and cans collected throughout our hotel, with proceeds directed to the National Zoo & Aquarium Conservation Team. It’s a small, everyday habit that makes a real difference — helping us reduce waste while supporting a cause close to home.

Protecting Heritage & Cultural Artefacts

We are committed to protecting cultural heritage by not selling merchandise derived from heritage artefacts or items of significant cultural value. While our hotel does not sell souvenirs on-site, we encourage guests to make responsible choices when purchasing gifts elsewhere during their stay, and to seek guidance from reputable, ethical retailers.
